Caruaru!

yesterday, we went on a 

ROAD TRIP!

to a place called Caruaru, which is located about 2ish hours from Recife to the west. This city is known as the Capitol of Forro & since yesterday was the holiday of Sao Pedro, we went out to party! & we were not alone..the entire city was a ghost town besides the center of town where the festivities were at!

Also, they are celebrating 100 years of Luiz Gonzaga, the man they call the inventor of Forro.

So we arrived to this place:

Which was this big outdoor fair type thing, with lots of shops & places to eat. 

Then we went to this other party in the city that was 100x bigger! and it was really fun! 

They had a lot of the same things but also line dancing performances and a concert playing.

We started our night there with macaxeira & espetinhos!

Then we watched some quadrilha (line dancing)

Then we met a pirate :)

Then we got some drawings done.

It was a great night out! But we got home at like 130 & had to be up at 630 to spend the day in the favelas today. It was a looooong day! But it was worth it! But tomorrow will be a long day of homework & church.
