What cities will you be visiting?
While we are living in Recife (meaning: reef) we will go on several weekend field trips to places such as Porto de Galinhas, Olinda, Joao Pessoa, Natal and maybe the island of Itamaraca.
The last two weeks of our Study Abroad we will be spending three days in Fortaleza (meaning: fortress), three days in Salvador (meaning: Savior) and 4 days in Manaus. We will also be spending 5 days in Sao Paulo on our way home.

Why did you choose Recife, Brazil?
Jordan and I have a huge passion for Brazil. Jordan spent two years living there and I spent most of my summers growing up in southern Brazil. It is our desire to experience more of the country and see a side of Brazil that we didn't know existed. We are going to the opposite side of the country that we are familiar with. A place with different kinds of people, food, customs, traditions, etc. We are thrilled!
We also want to strengthen our portuguese while obtaining credit towards our minors.

Isn't Brazil dangerous?
There are many misconceptions about Brazil. In my opinion Brazil is a relatively safe country, with incredibly kind, generous people. However, at times, Americans tend to be arrogant & flaunt the things that they have (such as nice phones, watches, jewelry, etc) which could attract the wrong kind of people. If you are a foreigner to Brazil, attempt to blend in and be street smart. If you stand out like a lost puppy that is screaming "I AM A RICH AMERICAN, COME TAKE MY NICE STUFF" you will probably be noticed.
Attempt to experience Brazil as a Brazilian and you will never want to come back!
How much does the program cost?
This program costs between $4000-$4400 per person.
Plus airfare which is around $1000 per person.
Think that is too much? There are TONS of scholarships & grants available to those who want to travel abroad. We would not be able to go if it wasn't so.
